Our Marigolds.

We are Enviro Kids. We love gardening and checking on our plants and flowers. We planted lots and lots of marigold seeds and they grew into plants. We planted them in the flower garden and in the old bath.
We have lots of pretty orange flowers everywhere!
Now we are learning how to take the dead flower heads off the plants and collect them for seeds. We have hundreds and hundreds of marigold seeds!

Here is our bath of flowers.

We love gardening in the sun!

This is how we take the dead flower heads off the marigolds to collect the seeds.

Happy Birthday Lucas!

Today is Lucas' birthday. He is 6 years old. His Mum made our class some yummy chocolate muffins to have for morning tea. They were delicious! We sat under the tree and ate them at play time.

A Cheeky Rabbit and Our Lettuces!

Today we planted some more lettuce plants because a cheeky rabbit has been nibbling our other lettuce plants. The sun was shining and it was very warm outside so we had to water the plants too.

When we watered the plants we were very careful to not damage them.
We watered onto our hands and let the water trickle through our fingers and on to the plants safely. We love gardening at school!

Little Bird.

Today we found a little bird. It was on the deck outside our classroom. It was just lying there on its back, upside down. It didn't look very well.
We picked it up and held it carefully for a while. Its little heart was pumping very fast. We put it under a little tree to rest. We will check on it later during morning tea.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

We wrote our own Twinkle Twinkle Little Star poems.
We love writing poems.
We hope you like reading them as much as we liked writing them!

The Junior Swimming Sports.

We had our Junior Swimming Sports at school. It was a lovely sunny day. Lots of Mums and Dads and Grandparents came to watch us! We did running races and flutter board races and races with noodles! We showed everyone how we can be starfish in the water and turn flips too! We did some floating and kicking races, backstroke and real overarm swimming. We had such a great time. We love swimming in the summer and splashing about in the water. We hope you like watching our cool video! Do you like swimming as much as we do?

Mayor Dale Williams visits Ngutunui.

Mayor Williams came to visit us at our school. Our student leaders presented him with a cheque to go towards the Mayoral Relief Fund for Christchurch. We raised $230 by having a dress-up day and buying yummy sausages and hamburgers for our lunches. We are proud to have been able to do our part and raise some money for Christchurch. We are so lucky to live in Ngutunui.

The Christchurch Earthquake.

We did some art work about all the sad and hurt people in Christchurch.
We screen printed faces on to pieces of hessian. We are very sad about the earthquake and that's why we wanted to raise some money for Christchurch. Our art work is hanging up on our wall in the classroom and reminds us about what happened.

We love watching the butterflies.

We love watching the monarch butterflies hatching out. They are amazing! They hang upside down for a long time to dry their wings. Our room has been full of butterflies. We had chrysalises hanging all along the white board and most of them turned into butterflies. We did our own butterfly pastel portraits too. We love you?

New Life.

Monarch Butterflies.

We planted tiny, tiny swan plant seeds last year and they grew into big plants. We love having a butterfly garden at school. We rescued lots of chrysalises and put them in our classroom. Lots and lots of butterflies hatched out and we set them free.
